Description
Ebara CDX(M) centrifugal pumps are highly suitable for hot wort transfer in large commercial breweries and home microbreweries.
These single impeller, centrifugal wort transfer pumps are made from corrosion resistant AISI 304 stainless steel with hydraulic components.
Ebara CDX(M) brewery pumps have the ability to withstand high liquid temperatures of up to 110°C which make them the ideal choice for pumping hot wort.
We have found that many brewers were experiencing problems with their hot wort transfer pumps leaking. This is not a problem encountered when pumping water so we set about finding out why this was happening. We discovered that sugars from the wort were crystallising on the faces of the mechanical shaft seal and forcing the two components apart, this causing the seal to leak. The shaft seals were repeatedly looking like the image below...
After some experimentation, we found a wort pump mechanical seal with a material which will still withstand the high temperature but does not allow the sugar to adhere to the mating surfaces.
We now supply the Ebara CDX centrifugal brewery pumps with the special hot wort transfer seal fitted. We also supply the shaft seal as a spare part for retro fitting to existing brewery pumps and also offer a fitting service.
