Description
Colour in water (after it has been filtered) is typically caused by either iron and manganese compounds or by organic compounds. These borehole water filters are specially designed to treat colour in water caused by organic tannins using specialised ion exchange resins.
Organic colour comes from decaying vegetation and maybe completely soluble or particulate. Tannins (Humic and Fumic acids) are by far the most common class of compounds and give the water a yellow/brown tint. In highland areas where water runs off peat, the water can be virtually brown, meaning installing these colour removal filters will help you prevent further health risks and improve the quality of your private water supply.
These borehole water filters for colour removal are strong, reliable and easy to handle, offering a dependable solution for domestic and industrial applications that use private water supply. The colour removal filter consists of a pressure vessel filled with resin that bound with the organic molecule when the water passes across them in the filter. This way, the colour compounds get attached to the resin and are held within the borehole filtration system. Periodically, the resin needs to be refreshed depending on how much water is used. This is done by flushing a small amount of salt (stored in an external brine tank), through the resin vessel. Once this process has been completed, the resin is refreshed and ready to filter the water again. However, if the colour is due to iron or manganese, there are specific treatments for iron and manganese filters that we offer to help you remove the contamination and filter out these elements.
